Food Sodium Lactate


Definition: 

Sodium lactate is the sodium salt of lactic acid, and has a mild saline taste. It is produced by fermentation of a sugar source, such as corn or beets, and then, by neutralizing the resulting lactic acid[4] to create a compound having the formula NaC3H5O3.


The usage of sodium lactate in different fields: 


1. Daily Personal Care: 

As humectant and pH regulator in cosmetics. 

and used in shampoos, soaps, moisturizers, and bath gels. It retains moisture and whiten skins.


2. Beverage Industry: 

As an acidity regulator and pH regulator to enhance flavor in sour drinks. and as a preservative in wine processing by promoting yeast growth and preventing muddy wine.


3.Food Industry: S

As pH regulator and preservative in the food industry. It is also used as a flavor enhancer, humectant, 

antioxidant, and emulsifier. It prolongs the shelf life of foods by reducing the effects of bacteria.


4. Pharmaceutical Industry: 

Sodium lactate is used as a pH regulator in pharmaceuticals to relieve acidosis.
